7 Causes of Failure to Give Birth Naturally You Should Know

Causes of Failure to Give Birth Naturally

7 Causes of Failure to Give Birth Naturally You Should Know. It is indeed a natural paradigm for all pregnant women to be able to have a normal delivery when the time comes.  Most Obstetricians and Gynecologists would suggest normal delivery, especially for first time pregnancy.  Since, this type of labor does not require surgical procedures, so it is considered the safest.

In other words, mothers and doctors believe that normal childbirth is considered the best method for giving birth when there are no problems with the health of the mother and the baby in the womb.

However, there are cases of women with a normal pregnancy that fails to give birth naturally and these are the causes:

  1. Cephalopelvic Disproportion (CPD)

A CPD is a condition when a baby’s head is too big than a normal size to fit through a mother’s small or narrow pelvic size.  In this condition, to perform a normal delivery is not recommended because it may cause physical stress on both the mother and the baby.

  1. Breech Birth

For nine months the baby will continue to develop and its position may change in the womb.  However, when approaching the time of delivery, the baby’s head must be in the right position (head-down) for a normal delivery.  In some cases, when the baby’s position is bottom-down or breech, a C-section will take place.

  1. Cervical Cerclage

Cervical cerclage also known as cervical stitch, is a small surgical procedure done by stitching a pregnant woman’s cervix during pregnancy to help prevent premature birth.  This procedure is done for pregnant women who show cervical muscle weakness and other cervical disorders that may cause miscarriage.

  1. Has a History of C-Section

Pregnant women who previously underwent a caesarean section in a previous pregnancy are at risk to undergo a normal delivery.  A normal childbirth in this condition can cause uterine rupture, and can lead to heavy bleeding and other injuries.

  1. Pregnant with More Than One Child

Pregnant with twins, triplets, or quadruplets usually undergo a caesarean delivery because having a normal delivery is considered very risky.  Thus, a c-section is required to reduce the risks of complications.

  1. Placental Abruption

The placenta is the main source of life for the baby when it grows in the mother’s womb.  Ideally, the placenta should remain attached to the uterus until the baby is born.  In some cases, the placenta tends to lose before labor takes place.  This is a medical emergency and is a strong contraindication for normal delivery.

  1. Lack of Energy

Sometimes when there are no medical problems for the mother or baby, normal delivery is still prohibited.  However, when labor takes longer than usual, this can cause exhaustion and dehydration from the mother.  If this is the case, a normal delivery is stopped, and the patient will eventually undergo a c-section.

Those are the seven main conditions of pregnant women that are unable to perform a normal delivery.  If you’ve experienced one of the medical problems listed above, please discuss the birth plan with your doctor months before your due date.
